Westgate Terrier

The Westgate Terrier is a small to medium breed of dog commonly found in Kenya. While similar in appearance to the West Highland Terrier, it is usually more evenly proportioned and thought to be developed by breeding Japanese Spitz, Maltese, and other little fluffy white dogs together.

Origin

The Westgate Terrier was bred to look endearing when a puppy, and originates from the roundabouts around Nairobi's Westgate Mall.

Health

Westgate Terriers have a predisposition to pemphigus foliaceus. Westgates with pink eye or nose areas should take care to use suncream between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM if planning to spend time in direct sunlight.
